How Invest Hamilton County handles your information on this navigator
Plain-English summary first; the formal terms follow.
In one paragraph
If you subscribe, we collect the email + name + role you give us, plus the topics you select for newsletter segmentation. We use that information to send you the resources you asked about and (if you opt in) the IHC newsletter. We don’t sell or share your information with third parties for their own marketing. You can unsubscribe with one click in any email.
What we collect
- From the subscribe form: email (required), first name, role, topics-of-interest, your two consent choices.
- Automatically when you click through: which resource you opened to (so we can email you when that program changes), your browser’s user-agent string (capped at 200 characters; used for nothing more than spam-bot detection).
- Server logs (transient): standard Render request logs (7-day retention).
What we DON’T collect
- Cookies for ad targeting, retargeting, analytics fingerprinting, or cross-site tracking.
- Your IP address as a stored field (logged transiently by Render only).
- Geolocation, microphone, camera, contacts, or any device-level signal.
- Anything from third-party trackers — we don’t embed Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, Hotjar, FullStory, or any ad network.
Two consent checkboxes — what each means
- Transactional (required): If you check this and subscribe, we’ll email you when programs you’ve viewed change (deadlines, eligibility shifts, new guidance) and confirm your topic interests. This is genuinely transactional under CAN-SPAM rules.
- Marketing (optional): If you also check this, you’re added to the IHC employer/workforce newsletter (monthly highlights, new programs, events). You can opt out anytime via the one-click unsubscribe in every email.
Two navigators, two lists
The Workforce Resource Navigator and the Employer Resource Navigator are separate gates. If you subscribe to one, you don’t automatically get added to the other. This is so we don’t accidentally send you employer-side mail when you came in for job-search help (or vice versa). If you want both, subscribe to both — they capture different topic preferences.
Where your information lives
Your subscription record is stored on IHC infrastructure (Render Web Service, encrypted SQLite + JSONL audit log). When you opt in to the marketing newsletter, your record is exported to IHC’s CRM and mail platform (HubSpot) for delivery; HubSpot is CAN-SPAM-compliant. Outbound clicks (which programs you opened) live only on IHC infrastructure and are used for editorial decisions, never shared.
Your rights
- Unsubscribe — one click in any email, or visit /unsubscribe and enter your email.
- Update — re-subscribe with the same email and updated interests; we merge your preferences.
- Delete — email info@investhamiltoncounty.com and we’ll permanently delete your record within 30 days (subject to a 10-day CAN-SPAM suppression-list retention required by law).
- Audit — request a copy of everything we have on you; same email, 30-day SLA.
